North Delta Elementary

North Delta Elementary School includes students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We serve these students in a modern building by a talented slate of veteran elementary teachers.

Each year, our elementary classes earn phenomenal scores on Stanford Achievement Tests, often scoring over a full year above their actual grade level!

Curriculum and Assessments

We use A Beka's demanding math curriculum throughout North Delta Elementary.

Our kindergarten classroom uses A Beka Reading and Writing with Phonics to teach beginning reading and writing skills. First and second grade teachers employ McGraw-Hill's Reading Wonders series called Treasures. Intermediate grades use Treasures as well as a blend of exciting chapter books and Houghton Mifflin's tried-and-true literacy program.

We welcome all parents to review our teaching materials or to contact our teachers with questions.

Testing
We use a variety of in-class assessments to track student growth and teacher effectiveness. Students in elementary school may experience quizzes and end-of-unit or chapter tests but will never be given a final exam. We regularly evaluate math and language proficiency; reading comprehension; writing, spelling, and handwriting progress; science acquisition; and social studies understanding.

Extracurricular Activities

A lot of learning happens in elementary school outside the classroom. Weekly at North Delta, your child(ren) will participate in extra learning opportunities through:

  • Art
  • Bible
  • Computers
  • Dance - Becky Nickle
  • Library
  • Physical Education

We also occasionally enjoy:

  • Holiday Parties
    • We may contact parents to help plan and/or pay for these events, but we will never ask a family to contribute more than $15.
  • Field Trips
    • Field trips extend classroom learning and help students connect what they are learning to the real world. To participate, students must return a parent-signed and dated permission slip prior to each trip.
  • Grandparents Day
    • Each year, we invite our students’ grandparents to campus for an afternoon of fun and refreshments.
  • D.A.R.E.
    • Batesville police conducts our annual D.A.R.E. program for second through fifth graders.
